Intermediate Quilting: Shelburne Tartan

Date: September 14 – November 2
Time: 8 Thursdays, 6:30 – 9:30 pm
Instructor: Sheila Ford

Description: In this class you will learn how to make the Shelburne Tartan Quilt pattern. The following is a description of the pattern from much-loved quilter Sheila Ford:

“This pattern is a lively geometric pattern. It could be used on your bed or on your couch to cover up in the evenings. This Quilt top is constructed with 5″ blocks and 2 1/2″ strips. These blocks and strips are built into rectangular subsets. Then four of these subsets and one  2 1/2″ square are combined together to make one complete block. These blocks are then sewn together and framed by borders to finish the quilt top. This is a great pattern to use up left over 2 1/2″ strips, combined with a solid color to complete the tartan pattern. Or a quilter might choose  to purchase all new materials using Jelly Rolls ( rolls of 2 1/2″ precut strips ) or 2 1/2” strips of various fabrics, combined with yardage/meterage for the solid colour. “

Previous sewing skills are an asset, as well as the ability to sew an accurate 1/4 ” seam.
