For those with little to no experience, this is an excellent way to unwind and explore these artistic media. A great class to take with a friend, and a perfect precursor to many of our other art classes.

“As someone with zero art experience, I found the class challenging at times but very accessible. April is very positive and encouraging, and she made the entire experience fun. I just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed the entire experience. I highly recommend her class to anyone who has never tried an art class before.” from a recent participant in April’s Art In the Afternoon class

In the first class you will learn the basic approaches to silk painting, including painting on dry and damp silks and how to create textures. Explore your dye palette and create a small, frame-able landscape-based sample. In the following two classes you will create a vibrant silk scarf, then learn finishing techniques and how to set your dyes. Unlike some types of dye, those provided in this class can be set with a regular household iron, making this a much easier and safer method for these techniques.
