Sketching, Drawing & Painting (ages 13 – 17) (Winter)

A fun and educational class that teaches important techniques in art-making. You will try a variety of tools and materials including watercolour and acrylic paint, pencils, charcoal, pastel, ink, collage, print-making, and mixed media. Develop the skills you need to create beautiful artworks with exercises in perspective drawing, self-portraiture,still life, shading, contour drawing, and more. Then put your new skills to work in creating unique and expressive pieces of artwork that tell your story. These techniques are great for people interested in all forms of drawing and painting: sketching, realism, fantasy, abstract, mixed-media.
Both group and individual instruction will encourage students at their level of experience. New and returning students welcome!

Are you secretly a mad scientist, a dare-devil princess, or an evil-doer with a soft spot for kittens? Are you longing to expose your secret identity to the world? Look no further! Under the auspices of drama camp, you can show your true colours and no one will be the wiser! Local actor and stand up comedian Greg King will guide youth through a series of exercises designed to acclimatize them to the stage and get them comfortable with performance techniques. Over the course of a week, they will collaboratively craft a play starring characters of their own invention, which will razzle and dazzle family and friends and the grand performance on Friday afternoon! New and returning participants welcome!

For aspiring artists, this class is a perfect introduction to the skills and techniques that will carry them forward. Whether new to art, or having taken previous classes, this camp will challenge each student at their level of ability. Anita Singh is an light-hearted, engaging instructor with a long history of art education an a successful multi-media art practice. Anita’s flare for colour, pattern, and design makes her projects an excellent blend of fun and instructional. Kids will be taught important basics including colour theory and paint mixing, shading, pattern, and balance through activities like self-portraiture, landscape, collage, ink drawing, and print-making. An excellent choice for any young person interested in art or with a creative flare!

For aspiring artists who want to advance their skills and beginners interested in developing their creativity, this camp will cover all the important foundations with room for exploration. Lead by experienced and innovative instructor, Stephanie Stoker, with many years of experience as an art educator, this camp will include portraiture, landscape, perspective drawing, abstract design, outdoor sketching, texture painting and open-ended projects. With a full week of working time, participants will have a chance to really explore the various styles of drawing, painting, charcoal, graphite, ink and mixed-media.
